Im suing guy who hit me in car accident, but my attorney cant find him. What happens next?

I was in a serious car accident when i was 17 weeks pregnant and was transported by ambulance to hospital. Ever since ive had major back pain and had to do therapy, the doctors had to put me on pain pills, i lost my job, the couldnt get another one because i was pregnant. My attorneys are trying to find the guy, and they cant find him, or serve him papers. What will happen if they cant find him?
